In summer, the scenic hiking trails of the Zillertal valley invite to explore the mountains. Numerous mountain huts provide welcome rest and much-deserved refreshments to visitors.


  • Tour to the Hoellensteinhuette - easy

    An easy hike to the Hoellensteinhuette, located on the Loschboden plateau above the Tuxertal valley. The tour takes you up to 1740 metres above sea level. Enjoy Tirolean delicacies at the mountain hut surrounded by the Tettensjoch (2276 m) und Hoellenstein (2874 m).

  • Tour to the Brandalm – moderate

    Surrounded by forests and meadows, the Brandalm mountain hut in Juns is located at 1600 metres with a view of the beautiful mountains of the Tux and Zillertal Alps. Starting from Lanersbach at the Gasthof Jäger the trail leads uphill with an elevation gain of 420 metres. You can take the same route back or descend to the village of Juns.

  • Tour to the Schrofenalm – moderate

    This tour starts at the hotel, taking you up to the Schrofenalm. Beautiful scenery, typical Tirolean farms and a great view are guaranteed. While this hike does not offer the opportunity to stop for refreshments, it is a worthwhile hike away from the crowds.

Climbing impressive summits with fabulous views is a memorable holiday experience. Seasoned climbers will find an abundance of tours to explore the mountainscape.


  • Tour to the Frauenwand

    The Hintertux gondola takes you comfortably up to the Sommerbergalm (2100 m), the starting point of the hike. Alpine roses, St John’s wort and wild gentian offer a beautiful contrast to the giant glacier with its imposing mountain peaks. At the Kaiserscharten on a clear day the view goes over the Ötztaler and Stubai Alps. Until 1926 Hintertux was part of the municipality of Schmirn which is located down below. On the back, the Tuxer Joch presents a lovely alpine landscape. Time for much-deserved refreshments at the Tuxer-Joch-Haus before you return to Hintertux via the Weitental past the Schleierwasserfall waterfalls.

  • Tour to the Hippoldspitze

    From Lanersbach the hiking taxi takes you to the Vallruckalm, the starting point of the climb to the Hippoldspitze. You can visit the highest alpine pasture of the Zillertal with its own small power station, while taking in the fabulous view of the Karwendel mountain range and the Zillertal Alps. The descent can be done on the same route or alternatively via the Nederjoch to the Nasse-Tux-Alm to Lanersbach.

  • Tour to the Gruebelspitz

    From Tux-Lanersbach you effortlessly travel up to 2000 metres with the Eggalmbahn gondola. From there the trail meanders uphill to the Beil (2300 m), followed by a gentle ascent to the summit cross of the Grueblspitze (2395 m). A feast for all senses awaits you: panoramic view of the glacier, fragrant herbs and chirping crickets. Hikers with sufficient endurance can continue to the Torsee lake, a beautiful mountain lake embedded in nature, perfect to cool off and rest their tired legs.

Climbing in airy heights

The climbing routes and via ferratas near Mayrhofen offer a special mountain experience. There are various difficulty levels to choose from, from tours for beginners for the whole family to demanding tours for experienced climbers. Once you have reached the top, you comfortably hike back to the starting point.


  • Via ferrata for children and families

    The family route rounds off the range of the existing fixed rope routes in Mayrhofen. This family-friendly and, above all, child-friendly route offers a variety of classic climbing terrain with interesting high-rope garden elements.

  • Talbach Via Ferrata

    The via ferrata is situated directly next to the Talbach waterfall. The level of difficulty is increasing, the entry point is ideal for novice climbers and children. There are emergency exits after every increase in difficulty. The main climbing route is designed for advanced climbers, the highlight being two long dizzying rope bridges.

  • Schlegeis 131

    With a height of 131 metres, a length of 200 metres, 1260 anchor points for steps, handles and safety ropes, the Schlegeis 131 is the most spectacular climbing terrain in the holiday region Mayrhofen-Hippach. The fact that the via ferrata has not been built along a rock face but along the Schlegeis dam makes this spot unique.

Places of strength – places where you can feel the power of nature with every breath, providing positive mood, and a feeling of tranquility and wellbeing. Quite often these are places that you have always liked to visit, sometimes you feel that you have to linger, to become grounded, some would even say it’s like a magic attraction.


  • 7 Bridges

    Place of strength “7 bridges”

    This beautiful valley trail is dedicated to the “power of water”. Water is life and you can feel it when walking from bridge to bridge at every single place of strength. Powerful flows or the quiet rippling of the stream – each bridge offers different impressions.

  • Goldwasserl

    Place of strength “Goldwasserl”

    At the “Goldwasserl”, Andrea likes to take a drinking break when she is out running. Take a hearty sip from the fresh water and then continue to the “Tux Welten” theme park.

  • Hochsitzbank'l

    Place of strength “Hochsitzbank´l”

    This special “place” could soon be yours! This cosy sitting bench is situated in the middle of the forest, completely hidden on a clearing. The breathtaking view of the Olper and the entire valley is worth every effort! The highlight? Take a courageous sip from the hidden flask in the bird box. Continue in the direction of the Schrofenalm and visit the Barbara Chapel. On the way back to the valley enjoy the view of the mystic magical forest with its larch trees.

    Heroes of the glacier, watch out! Around the hiking area Sommerberg you will find an exciting adventure parkour with tricky puzzle questions. Together with glacier flea Luis, small detectives go on an exciting treasure hunt, exploring interactive stations and learning interesting facts about the glacier in a playful way. The treasure map is available at the cash desks of the valley station in Hintertux. Join us and help us solve the mystery. Ready, set, go!

  • Nature worlds

    Experience nature with all your senses! The nature trail invites visitors to marvel, discover and understand. Mother Nature has created an extraordinary and unique habitat for all of us.

  • Animal worlds

    Explore the unique and fascinating world of the animals. There is much to discover at various stations, explaining the interaction of organisms. What is crawling there? Appearances are deceptive!? How many ants can you find in the animal treasure hunt? These and many other questions are answered in a playful way.

  • Water worlds

    Immerse yourself into the fascinating world of water where visitors experience the fascinating and unique world of the water. Even from a distance you can see the “floating water-tap”, which is also the start and end point of the hike.


Discovery Trail Tuxbach

Leading along the Tuxbach stream, the valley hiking trail between Tux-Vorderlanersbach and Hinterux offers fun, sports and adventures in nature!
